Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust

It's been a pretty horrible week. Death sucks.
BUT
I'm feeling better knowing I'll be going to the mall tomorrow with the BFF. Nordstrom, Zara, H&M, Sephora and Filene's Basement are top on my list of stores to visit. I shouldn't spend too much but I have trouble with willpower.

Clearly I was a mad babe four years ago:

I still own and wear every item in this picture. My typical outfit back then included layers, jeans, bright colors, huge jewelry, flats. This reminds me that I should stop wearing so much black, gray and brown.

Who has a hiatus after three posts? I guess, I do. I blame vacation, work, and school. And TV. And is anyone else addicted to Farmville on Facebook?
Just to confuse my roommates, I walked around the house in this outfit:

I thought I'd pair the most random black items in my wardrobe. Black lace gloves, Black bubble-hem dress, black lame stirrup leggings (couldn't resist, they're hilarious looking), and some black pointy boots... I love that they're red on the bottom. So sweet. I think the lace gloves go well with the old floral couch. I inherited it from my BFF/Roommate. Her grandmother sat on this couch every day till she died at age 88. Come to think of it, most of the furniture in our house was handed down from her grandmother. Weird.

Here's an actual outfit I wore in public:
Wearing my 60's-esque dress I got for 10 bucks at TJ Maxx about 4 years ago and some new Dollhouse heeled oxfords.

In other news, I need to see these in person (though I'll never have that opportunity) because I honestly am baffled as to how one's foot feels inside that shoe and how they subsequently walk:

Finding Salvation.... Army.

I've decided to take a trip to good ol' Salvation Army, or Salvation Armani as my best friend calls it. I haven't been to Salvo in a good long time, but I am on a mission to find something along the lines of this:

Becky Stark (of Lavender Diamond) performing with the Decemberists. I have no idea when or where I would wear a dress like this but I absolutely love this style with the jeweled bodice, sheer wing sleeves and full length skirt. Salvo is bound to have something similar I can perform some surgery on.

I love my outfit from today regardless of the fact that my hips look huge and I'm making a bit of a goofy face.

Cheap outfit, but I think it's cute. Would have been better if it hadn't been 94 degrees outside today. The AC is definitely working overtime tonight!

Work was entirely miserable on Saturday but Sunday made up for it because I got to see these awesome bands:

The Decemberists

Both bands were amazing. I was pumped that the Decemberists changed up their set a bit from the last time I saw them. They added some different instrumentation and vocals to The Hazards of Love. SO GOOD.

Leaving for San Francisco and Big Sur on Thursday. Packing is such a pain. How in the world can I bring all the shoes I need?
I have to bring these:

People tend to stare at my feet when I wear these. No idea why 'cause Forever 21 is pretty mainstream here, even if I do live in a state that isn't viewed as a fashion-forward kind of place.
I wonder how many pairs of Steve Madden wedges I can sneak along. Definitely going to have to bring flats, a good pair of sneakers and maybe flip-flops.
I can't even begin to think about what to bring for clothing! I may just blindly throw random things into a bag and see what happens...
